cold canadian courage//a poem

from poember prompt “cozy memories”

i moved when I was 12 but before that
we would dance in 3-foot snow at
our chance to know cold and courage, canadian winters
aren’t as hard as people think, there are
time-old traditions and steaming hot drinks
and snow in my hair and my nose and
bright-red face and laughter
on the hill as the brave ones race
there is courage and cold and
cold and courage and
these great virtues should not be
discouraged.
