NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) has just arrived. It’s the month where novelists try to bang out 50,000 words. I thought I’d run something similar for poets this year: a series of prompts for every day of November. At the end of the month, they’ll have enough poems for a chapbook. The prompt list is below.

I’ve already been blown away to see people’s poems! If you want to share them with me, head over to my instagram @acaciawritespoems and tag me in your post. I’ll be sharing my favourite one from that day’s prompt every day.
here’s my poem for the prompt “waiting”
slowly there forms an image
tonight I exhale slow
perhaps it is ok to remember
remember and love and let go
memories forming clouded
dimmed by my view from inside
days upon days stuck together
can’t separate truth from the lies
Still I’m In This Hallway
surrounded by doors but choosing none
slowly forms the promise
even in the midst of this mess
those who wait upon the Lord
are blessed are blessed are blessed
