Potatoes are Beautiful, too.

An interview with Kyra H, the author behind Potatoes are Beautiful, Too. I know y’all. I’m also ecstatic for this chat.

Tell us a bit about yourself. Who are you? What brought you to Jesus? What do you do when you aren’t writing?

I am a potato with a love for Jesus, food, and family. Some describe me as eccentric, others as eternally happy. Either way, I’m living it all for Jesus! I’ve been a follower of Christ since I was a young’un, and am forever following my Saviour.

When I’m not writing, you can find me doodling, eating, doing anything involved with music, and eating some more.

Your blog is called “Potatoes are Beautiful Too!” First of all- I completely agree. Secondly, can you tell us why you called it that and what it focuses on?

Absolutely! It all started a few months ago, when I realized that I wanted to share my messages on true beauty with the world. As I was searching for the perfect name, I found a picture of a potato with makeup on, with the caption “Even potatoes look good with makeup!”. Then it hit me! Even potatoes are beautiful too, even though many don’t think they are.

My blog focuses on the true ideals of beauty from a Biblical perspective, and that no matter who you are or how you look, you are still a child of the King!

Do you like eating potatoes?

Of course I do! I like em mashed, boiled, and stewed! Potatoes are scrumptious little things.

Are you working on any other writing projects? Tell us about them!

While my blog is non-fiction, I am primarily a fiction writer. Currently, I have two (technically three) stories in the works! While I won’t reveal much of it now, I will say that one is based in the speculative genre and the other is in the adventure genre (and includes an insane love for llamas).

What is one thing that God has been teaching you lately?

I think if there’s one big thing that God has been teaching me lately, it’s to be more reflective on what is going on inside of myself. Not just what’s on the outside, but like true beauty, what is inside all the way down to our cores. Because that’s what matters most! Man looks at the outer appearance, but God looks straight at the heart.
