Advent Through Poetry Day TWENTY-FOUR (The Child)

GUYS! We made it!! Not quite on time, perhaps, but today is the twenty-fourth day of poetry. I hope you have enjoyed this as much as I have 🙂

For my last poem I’m trying my hand at spoken word poetry….perhaps my brothers and I will do it together sometime and I’ll post a vid 😀

Enjoy!

A child.

A child? How?

This cannot be, I am young

Still you may bear a son

I can’t tell-

Can’t?

What would he say?

A child?

What would they say?

Mustn’t.

I will pay.

I must pay.

The saviour?

Saviour.

A child?

A child.

Bear this gladly

I will do

Try to resist-

Must resist

The stares because

A child?

A child.

She

She betrayed me

How, why-

A child?

A child.

Stone her-

Stone her?

Don’t stone her

The angel says

This is real

A child.

Saviour.

I don’t understand

A child? Her?

Well….

We must

We must travel?

With a child?

Taxes.

Taxes?

Bethlehem.

No room.

No room?

But please, my wife-

A child.

A child?

A child.

No room here-

The child!

A stable.

A stable?

It will do

Sheep, dark.

So dark,

always dark

never changing

wait-

there, over there

the light?

Why light?

Isn’t it supposed to

Be night?

They sing.

They?

Sing?

What do they say?

A child.

A child?

A child.

Where?

In a stable

A stable?

Messiah-

MESSIAH?

IN A STABLE?

Yes, messiah.

We must-

We must go

See this child,

Wrapped in clothes

In a manger

A manger?

A manger.

A star-

in the east?

In the east.

A child?

A child.

A king.

A king?

A king.

A child king.

We must go

Go see

Go see this king,

This child.

Wake up!

Up?

It’s dark.

We must leave

Leave?

Now?

Yes. Now.

They are coming.

Coming?

For the child.

The child?

The child.

The chosen

The son

The messiah is here

In the form of

This Child.
