Advent Through Poetry Day EIGHT (Dragon)

Most People don’t think about Revelation 12 as part of the nativity story. I didn’t either, until my Dad pointed it out to me this evening.

Dragon breathes fire out;

Woman cries in pain

a third of the stars cast down by his tail

all baby boys slain.

The Woman flees to the wilderness

The Child is taken to God

The Woman is given wings to fly

The Child snatched above.

The dragon, the best, hurled down to the earth

Tries to drown Her with a flood

But the earth opens up and she escapes

Her babe lives on, to give his blood.
